The US did directed an attack against military targets in Hiroshima. Japan in the middle of the war PURPOSELY put civilians around military bases so we wouldn't "dare to attack". Effectively because of this, the Japanese Army used civilians as human shields.

Also, it may be terror in a sense but it was an official act of war. We could say that Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was an act of terrorism due to the fact the event happened before an official declaration of war was presented to the US.

Because the Germans had surrendered 3 months earlier. If Truman had wanted to use it, why bother with the Potsdam Declaration? What part of "prompt and utter destruction" did they not understand?

What better choice did Truman have? Compromise peace? J militarists retain power; plan Pacific War II

Invade? 240,000 died on Okinawa. Kyushu's garrison was x7 larger. DO THE MATH!

Blockade? How many MILLIONS of J civilians would have starved before god/boy hirohito gave the surrender order?

FYI Hiroshima was hq of J 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata. 43,000 j troops were in the city & approx 20,000 died in the bombing.

I for one am Very glad we didn't have to go in on foot and Kill EVERYTHING. Two bombs and two cities equal a Victory where hundreds of cities and Millions of people don't die, on both sides. Don't think so look at what happened as we closed in on Japan... the soldiers fought almost to the last as did the civilians... and those that couldn't fight were expected to booby-trap themselves or kill themselves... anything BUT surrender which they did.

For all you out there saying "this needed to be done in order to save more lives" oh stfu we did it because we were curious what it would do, and we didnt want to waste any of our "enlisted" "soliders" who was trained to fight, so we bomb and killed 300,000+ innocent civilians lives. Listen I'm pro U.S and all for winning. Just don't try and justify how fucked up we are to the rest of the world.

No big deal, we still doing this type of shit to this day. All the drone strikes and all. Listen there's no right or wrong in this, it's just winner or loser. But trying to justify the reason why we did it is stupid and wrong. We did it just because we could and wanted to test the weapon in the process. Why not test it on asian people? It's a racist world even to this age
