The scene: dimly lit western theme saloon and steak house, ceiling festooned with cutoff ties of city slicker banker types, walls plastered with their business cards. Two budding filmmakers roam the checkered tables capturing the sights, sounds. You can almost smell the ribeye and baked potato through their lens. Listen carefully to hear MK and Cade debate scene and subject, struggling to film "only interesting things," which they do indeed. Their tight focus brings us the dust on the dangling ties, the yellowing corners of the stapled business cards. We ponder with them a giant Pepsi-Cola bottle cap wall ornament, and wonder where the painted hoof prints on the floor lead to. The adult birthday party conversation is backdrop to the young auteurs' exploration of peripheral detail.
