The New York Giants did what they had to do in Week 17 of the 2012 NFL season, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 42-7, to finish the year at 9-7. By virtue of the Chicago Bears win over the Detroit Lions, however, New York will not make a return trip to the playoffs to defend their Super Bowl.
