you don't salute with your left hand on right shoulder arms - "keep your palm facing to the rear, so it does not resemble a rifle salute"
what have they been teaching people? things from the manual or whatever they happen to come up with in their mind

Since when can you perform anything but order arms from present arms? Unless you're part of a colorguard...
