The SC gave conditions which should be met before Arroyos can leave the country. But the court, in a subsequent ruling said it need not be followed, President Aquino said.
"Aba eh naglagay ka pa ng patakaran kung wala ka naman palang balak na masunod ito. Lahat na ng proseso ay sinunod natin ngunit sa kabila nito, tayo pa daw ngayon ang naghahanap ng away. (They have imposed a condition only to later on say that it need not be followed. And then they said we are the ones looking for a fight,)" Aquino said.
"Hindi ito ang unang beses na gumawa ang Korte Suprema ng mga desisyong napakahirap unawain (This is not the first time that the Supreme Court made a decision that are hard to understand)," Aquino said.
"He (Corona) was appointed not two months before the election but one week after the election. Based on our law and the Supreme Court's previous rulings, appointments two months before elections are prohibited except on temporary positions in the executive. Now, did the Supreme Court violate the law in affirming the appointment of the Chief Justice?" Aquino said.
"Iginagalang po natin ang pagkakapantay sa kapangyarihan ng hudikatura at ng ehekutibong sangay ng gobyerno. Wala po tayong balak na tapakan ang karapatan nila o bastusin ang kredibilidad ng sinuman (We respect the co-equal status of the Executive and the Judiciary. We have no plans of violating their rights or disrespecting them)," Aquino said.
"Pero kailangan nating balikan ang mga batayang prinsipyo ng ating demokrasya. Kami pong mga nanumpa sa tungkulin ay iisa lamang ang pinagkakautangan ng loob: kayong mga Boss namin, ang sambayanang Pilipino. Ngayon kung ang may isang lingkod-bayan na tumatanaw ng utang na loob, hindi sa taumbayan na siyang dapat na bukal ng aming kapangyarihan, kundi sa isang pardon na isiniksik sya sa pwesto, maaasahan po kaya natin syang intindihin ang interes ng Pilipino? (We have to revisit the basic principles in our democracy. We public servants are indebted only to our bosses, the Filipino people. If there are public servants who are not for the interest of the people but is instead looking at the interest of their backer, can we expect them to understand the interest of the people?) You were right in humiliating Chief Justice Renato Corona. He deserves it for being Gloria Arroyo's lackey.
Teach him a lesson for conspiring with Arroyo in putting one over the people and assuming the top SC position when the 60-day election ban was in force.
You are right about reminding him and the people that he is a "midnight" appointee.

Just two more things.
First, the SC action enabled Arroyo to appoint her THIRD Chief Justice.
How greedy is that. She had already appointed two to the post and she wanted to appoint one more who would actually stay on beyond the term of her immediate successor.
Arroyo and the SC's action deprived Aquino of ever appointing a Chief Justice because Renato Corona will reach retirement age in 2018 -- or two years after Aquino's term ends.
You know, the appointment of a Chief Justice is very very important in a democracy. A president carefully chooses one who he believes reflects his views on important matters such as the economy, population, corruption, judicial reforms, to name a few. If a president has conservative views, he chooses one who is also conservative.
But since the SC said she could appoint Corona, then so be it because we should all follow THE RULE OF LAW.
