Here is the union flag twin neck guitar I made for a customer. Its standard Gibson scale length on both necks (24 3/4 inches) Both necks have a tonerider pickups with "Generators" in the 12 string and "Rocksongs" in the 6 string. The body is poplar (tulip wood) and the necks are european walnut with black as black ebony fingerboards inlaid with real mother of pearl. The artwork is done by the very talented Jim Fogarty of www.jimfogarty.co.uk. This guitar was a treat to build and a delight to play. Please comment on the guitar... not on my musicianship ;)

  • wow its sounds great and looks awsome...do you think its really nesesary a "thicker" neck for 12 strings, i have afender jaguar and want to build acustom 12 string arm but dont know if the thickness will be a problem...

thanks and congratulations for that work..!

  • YES! you really do need to make a thicker neck for a 12 string as you double the string tension. you could use a dense wood, like rosewood, some guitars use rosewood necks, but it tends to be expensive and diffcult to source in that size (you'll probably have to visit a hardwood specialist,) not to mention heavy, It would however give you great sustain and would enable you to make the neck thinner (I still wouldn't go as thin as a regular 6 string though).
