I believe he's hurt but for a brain damaged guy he sounds completely with it. His damage probably shows (and maybe only to him) in certain situations.
@dropway9 pretty interesting train of thought...I know when I used to box, I thought I wouldn't feel a punch with super expensive , extra padded headgear. So WRONG! The headgear in boxing tends to stop noses from getting broken and eyes from being cut, but that's about it. I wish the medical community would be involved in boxing and make all pro's use 16-18 oz. gloves to lessen the blow.
Football needs to lose all of its protective gear, especially the helmets. This armor they wear now gives players the illusion of invincibility. You take away the helmet and players will stop leading with their heads. Guaranteed. It sounds counter-intuitive but think about it. It's the protective equipment that, ironically, makes the game much less safe.
In the coming years, with the medical community now fully involved with football, a fundamental change in the spoort will take place.
I admire the man's honesty. There's only so much head protection can give though. Slamming the brain around time after time may not affect all, but it will to some. Who really knows how many. We have so many crazy sports. People want to play them and see them. When you're young you don't think much of the ill affects until you have them.

The day they turned helmets into weapons by giving them hard outer shells is when this problem escalated.
It's not only about padding on the inside of the helmet, it's the outside that reduces the risk of concussion.

You got such a valid point
And these football zombies just want to hate
Oh
And since I'm already stirring it up
Maybe we shouldn't call it football
since to the rest of the world football is what we call soccer And has been such long before there was a Plymouth Rock
