weee! Go Ardross! I know one of his sons very well, Sunlit Boy, he is a super horse but with out the ambition to succed in racing/chasing!

Another fine horse no-one ever seems to mention is ALLEGED.Who I think only ever lost 1 race in his career(Dunfermlines St leger)

Such a dominant horse. He was laughing at them in the last furlong. He also came within a whisker of winning the Arc later that year over a distance half a mile too short for him.

Majestic performance. The great horse could have gone round again. At 4-9 fav he won as he should, but not forget though Little Wolf went on to win 2 Ascot Gold Cups - he wasn't in the same class as Ardross.

theres a big difference between an ascot gold cup and a york gold cup.both little wolf and capstan were out and out stayers whereas ardross had more speed than the two of them put together and york is a tight track which suits the speed horse.lester was great at not giving a horse as hard a race as it needed.look at all nijinsky's races always just doing enough.great horseman

I beg to differ Pactrolus, Little Wolf won the Ascot Gold Cup on only one occasion, in 1983.

You are correct. Perhaps Ardross wasn't as good as I remember!
