Animation provided by MoDOT
The old Kingshighway interchange was a cloverleaf design. The new
Kingshighway interchange is called a Single Point Interchange. This animation file shows how the traffic will move through the new interchange.
All of the on and off ramps will meet at the center of the bridge at one
signalized intersection. This is very similar to the new interchange MoDOT
has at I-270 and Olive in Creve Coeur and at I-70 and Route 94 in St.
Charles.
I'm frequently in Denver, and you're right-this works very well when crossing 25, near the Tech Center - it seems to flow very well, even with a lot of traffic. I never have to wait long at these interchanges.

Colorado and Texas use this extensively and it works very well. Wisconsin is still using 1950's design with ramps and traditional intersections or round-a-bouts.... We are stuck with their heads in the sand.....
