Wilderness Society's Annette Kondo sits down with Ken Burns to talk about his latest documentary series, The National Parks: America's Best Idea.
They talk about the making of the movie, some of the charismatic characters that the series and The Wilderness Society have in common, and, finally, about experiencing America's wildest lands in all their grandeur.
I much enjoyed episode 1 of Ken's series.A small complaint: I found the voice over reader of excerpts of Scotsman John Muir's fine writings irritating. He didn't speak with an American nor a Scottish accent. Instead, he affected an atrocious neither/nor, invented, amateur accent sounding nothing like the Scottish one it was presumably intended to sound like! Next time Ken, hire a Scot, or if you think a real Scots accent's too "harsh" for sensitive American ears, have it read American-style!
