Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning - PC Gameplay - FRAPS Recorded in HD 1080P

Played and FRAPS recorded on a Core i7 860 and a GTX 570

You can download this demo at Steam

Note:
I have enabled MSI Afterburner's GPU usage indicator, so there will be an
indication of required graphics card's processing power.

The correct way to use this information is as follows. I have set my FRAPS recording speed to 60 frames per second. What this means, is that the gpu usage indicator, is displaying the required percentage of the total processing power of a GTX 570, in order to have 60 frames per second. So when this indicator is hovering at 70% for example, then you need a card that can reach 70% of a GTX 570s power and so on and so forth. This way, people can estimate, how their graphics card will be able to run this game.

Please note that this information is only useful when there are no CPU limits at play, so you need to pay attention to the framerate counter, along with the gpu usage. The quoted system specs must be taken into consideration, to make useful conclusions.

There will be three possible scenarios:

1) If the framerate counter is showing 60fps and the gpu usage is less than 100%, then there are no cpu limits and the reading is usable.

2) If the gpu usage is at 100% and the framerate is less than 60fps, then we have a gpu limit. In this case I may overclock the card (and mention it) or I will just enable the second GTX 570 to keep a smoother framerate. In this case, if you see 70% gpu usage on both cards, then that means that you need 140% of the processing power of single GTX 570 and so on.

3) If the gpu usage is less than 100% and the framerate is less than 60fps, then we have a cpu limit and the reading is not usable. The cpu limit may have to do with the FRAPS recording itself, in the respect that the cpu resources required form both playing and recording, exceed the system's capacity. In such case, I may disable the gpu usage reading altogether, since the purpose will have been defeated (or just leave it there for reference).

  • This game is full of bugs. When I turn post procesing on I get a blank screen. But you don't grapple with this problem, why ?

  • @Smola666

Do you have a geforce as well? I was using the latest beta here.

  • @toutagamon Nope, Radeon

  • @Smola666

    Maybe it's a Catalyst thing.

I'll try testing it on my 5850s as well.
