There is another sky (Emily Dickinson / Mónica Fadul)

Music for a poem, from Emily DIckinson.
Few months ago I joined a lesson focused in songwriting for pop music. One of the assigments was to look for some poem and put music on it (the teacher recommended us Edgar Allan Poe). I am not used to read poetry, and I never did it in english before, so it took me some nights looking for something to feel identify with, and easy to understand. After reading Edgar Allan Poe (whose poems are great for instrumental music, because of the fantasy, landscapes and the way that he describes everything) I felt that it was going to be difficult to adapt his poetry into a pop song structure.
By accident I found the name of Emily Dickinson and some of her beautiful and short poems, I was really identified with her message and after reading her biography I tried to empathize with her life and feelings. Well, this is what this poem suggested me into a musical way.
I hope to be able to make more music for her poetry in the coming future, using music as a re-spreading tool of the message.
