First, sorry about the shaky and blurry video, too lazy to pull out my digicam... so I used my phone.
ClarionMiND hacked with Windows XP.
Boot up time is around 1:20" with some applications installed such as firefox, Daemon, K-Lite, CCleaner, Office 2007, and some games.
Can work as a PC, some online video stuttered. Some higher resolution videos do stutter a little as well. FLV works fine, RMVB stutter minimal, MP3 perfect, and everything works except no battery meter, screen offset a little on other resolution except 640x480. I believe the native resolution is 800x480.
That's about it. Works pretty great.
I'm going to test some more old classic games, so far only tried Age of Empire won't work, Rainbow Six the oldest one that work, but can't play with touch screen without keyboard. Classic emulator games like Snes and Nes or DS works perfectly except DS games have to use without sound to be smooth. SWAT2 works perfect, Red Alert works but hard to play with touch screen.

how is the GPS on this unit? I always had clarion GPS units, they are my favorite by far. I was thinking of purchasing one of these but haven't heard any reviews specifically of the GPS function, I don't really care about the rest of it.

@fcarabat if you really don't care about the other stuff, then you should buy a GPS instead, cuz this is a MID, personally I don't like the GPS, I think Mio brand has the best software to me cuz it has 3D viewing, and when you scroll the map, it won't lag and won't chop off the map and load the square of map few seconds later (like google map if you know what i'm talking about). GPS on this is not so good, but at least it takes you to where you want, didn't try far places tho. good luck.

@sdutango I had a positive experience with the Clarion 430 (N.I.C.E) model, fairly quick and easy to plot a route and change the route. I used it daily for work, so I used it quite a bit. I'll check out some garmins. Thanks for your input!

@fcarabat i think mio is more of eye candy, if you are ok with not much POI, then it's ok, but if you looking for more POI, then maybe you should fine other because i think the storage on the mio is not big enough so they didn't put enough POI in it, but I'm ok with it since i usually only put in addresses manually. Garmin is better on position-wise, more accuracy.

can you hook up a keyboard to this unit?
fcarabat 1 year ago
@fcarabat yes. it's just like a netbook just a bit slower then netbook, nothing else is different.
