'Whatever you did for the least of these you did for me' - Matthew 25:40.
'I tell you the truth whatever you did not do for the least of these you did not do for me, then they went away to eternal punishment. Matthew 25:45-46..... It is clearly of paramount importance to Jesus that we care for the least of these around us. There are over 300 verses in the Bible saying as Christians we need to make this a high priority. Often the least of these can find themselves rejected, ignored, and excluded by the very people God has called to love them and lay down their lives for them - the christians in your average everyday local church.
I realise there are some fantastic churches which do great work among the poor - but they are the exception and not the rule.

Excellent! Here you've hit on so many of the problems that are in the church that just shouldn't be! Our nice little comfy get-togethers is not what it's meant to be at all. And instead of embracing people we've rejected them unless they look, act and smell like us. Hopefully your words here will work to bring about change in how the church views the people who Jesus came to save, love and embrace.
