  • Donnie Sumner is only the featured soloist. Marsha Stevens is the author of the song!!!

  • whats your point? to my knowledge nobody has argued that he's the writer of this song

  • No need to, assumingly, get defensive. Just thought I'd comment on the fact that it says "For Those Tears I Died" BY this gentleman. I am speaking of giving credit to the composer. No arguing here, hoover.

  • it says BY donnie sumner because he is the one singing in this video

  • ya know, i'm 53 years old. i first heard this song in my teens, and even still when i hear it i stop to examine my life and ask God's forgiveness again. He is my Rock. I've drawn my water from The Rock.

  • I can and will listen to this for all eternity.

  • Great gospel....:o)

  • I always loved this song. A dear sister used to sing this song.....Jesus knows every tear I cried....

  • I learnt to sing this song in the Fiji Islands taught by a Kiwi (New Zealander) back in 1975. It has been the song that I sing I am alone ever since and or when I am feeling down.

  • Beautiful - I've heard this song more that 20 years ago for the first time, and today it touches my heart deeply

  • @essexmale61 So true.. makes you stop and humble yourself.. or at least it should.

  • A long and wicked life followed by five minutes of perfect grace gets you into Heaven. An equally long life of decent living and good works followed by one outburst of taking the name of the Lord in vain - then have a heart attack at that moment and be damned for eternity. Is that the system?

  • @escritura48

"Word Cops". That's what we need here. Maybe some brilliant person to monitor the politiall correctness of everyone's comments and replies would also be beneficial. ~ Carry on with whatever it is you normally do.

  • I don't think you have to give credit to the composer when you post a YouTube video, but I do know that your meaning would be clearer if you said something like "sung by" or "performed by." Better yet, just leave out the word "by." "For Those Tears I Died" - Donnie Sumner. Then no one should misunderstand.

If people see the word "by," they will rightly think that's the writer. That's the english standard. Search YouTube for the song Jole Blon. You will see different performers but no "by

  • A true masterpiece...:o)

  • It takes a great song writer to give the words and music. It takes a great singer to put those words and music into a thing of beauty. It took Marsha Stevens and Donnie Sumner together to make it real. It took Hoover's ability to create this video so that we can enjoy hearing of Jesus's love right here in our own homes.

    Thank you! OneKewpie
