This is a brief video of some of the functions on the ETO 8" Touchscreen Car Stereo system I've installed in my VW Passat. I searched the web for info on this system before buying but didnt come up with much so I said I'd put this video up to show some of the functions. I use the system with my iPhone 4 and although it displays a message on the phone regarding accessory not optimised for use with phone it seems to do the job just fine. Anyways feel free to ask any questions.

  • which streams music from your phone and cuts in with the voice directions which is handy. I bought the camera on dealextreme for €10 delivered and installed it myself. Seems perfect so far...... I know it's alot of money but my brother-in-law priced a similar unit here in Ireland for his 06 Audi and was quoted €2500, I know he needs alot of work done to fit it into his dash but I have to say I think the ETO system is a bargain considering what you get for your money.

  • It's no problem at all. The quality of the sound and screen is excellent as far as I'm concerned anyways. I usually connect the iPhone with the rear connection alright as it then displays the artist name, album name & track name and you can also browse down through the music on the phone and select any track using the touchscreen. When connected via bluetooth all the screen displays some big buttons to play, stop, skip tracks etc. You can indeed use a GPS app such as Navfree

  • Hi

Now you've owned it for a while, would you buy it again?

In the eBay listing it says you can play music str8 from your iPhone via Bluetooth, have u tried it?

Is the sat nav any good?

    Thanks

  • @arobsony Hi there, ya I would def buy this unit again in the morning. You can stream music direct from the iphone to the stereo, it works a treat. You can also skip tracks by using the music function associated with the bluetooth menu in the stereo. The GPS is fine but I asked for a map update from the supplier as alot of the new stretches of motorway in Ireland don't seem to be on it but they just told me that I had the latest one. So hopefully they might come up with one in the new year......

  • I was going to buy one for my Bmw but was very weary about the quality. Is the screen and sound good quality? Have you got your iPhone connected through a rear connection? Did you set the camera up yourself or did it come with the unit? Can you use an iPhone sat nav app and have the directions come through the unit because I'm in Ireland too and use the sat nave a lot for work? Sorry for all the questions but it's a lot of money to fork out.
