Short video that highlights my Canon HFs100 video camera and DIY 35mm Adaptor.

35mm Adaptor is a vibrating focus screen with Canon EF lens mount. Lenses used are Nikon 50mm 1.8 and Nikon 28mm 3.5 with Canon EF mount adaptors.

Primary audio is Sennheiser MKE 400 shotgun microphone, and Zoom H4n handheld backup recorder with Behringer B-5 condenser XLR mics.

Edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 in native AVCHD format on HP quad core processor.

Shot on location in Belleville Michigan in August 2009.

  • what do you think, is the sennheiser MKE 400 a good microphone to record a voice in 1-2 meters distance? i search a good one to record natually sounds, voices in a greenscreen-room and much more.

    my cam: canon hg20

  • I really like my MKE 400. I have not used it for doing interviews, or anything like that, but I do use it for recording family events and I like the sound. The small compact size is nice. If I'm not mistaken, the Canon HG20 has the "Mini" advanced accessory shoe. That will be a problem for you to attach the microphone. Just like my camera, any standard shoe mount wont fit the "Mini" shoe on our cameras.

  • I use a small adaptor bracket that attaches to the bottom of the camera using the tripod mount. Kind of a pain, but the MKE 400 is better then the DM-100 shotgun mic from Canon. Hope this helps.

Check out my video of my little niece learning to crawl. That video was shot using the same MKE 400, but I also used the Canon wide angle adaptor WD-H58 also!

  • Yep, especially the DIY style. There is also a certain amount of vignetting that occurs in the corners as well. I like the look, but still zoom in about 10% in post to try to minimize it.

    thank you very much

  • ive noticed that alot of 35mm adapters make the video look very soft.
