You are scrunching up your shoulder blades = Bad Form & Wrong Push-up.

And you're suppose to push against the ground with force, not your body... Saying "push" when you push against the ground helps you actually train too. Try it.

this guy is an idiot. There is no "proper" push-up, as every technique has it's ups and down. One push up may work out your biceps and triceps, but not your flexor muscles, which allows your joints (elbows) to make it possible to lift up - even when your muscles (triceps and biceps) are tired.
Certain push-ups do certain things, so there is no "proper technique" idiot... Don't teach if you don't even know the simplest stuff.

@ithinksasukeiscool The military push-up is a type of push up where you keep your arms about 45 degrees from your body. There are many type of push-ups where your arms are in different positions.

You should also put your hands in a fist position, it helps if you get joint pain =D
