Honduras president seeks constitutional change - 26 Jun 09

Honduras' president has dismissed his military chief after the general refused to back plans for changes to the constitution.

Manuel Zelaya wants to hold a public vote on amending the charter so that it better serves the poor.

But he has faced stiff resistance from the congress, courts and the military, who say that Zelaya is trying to consolidate his hold on the presidency.

Now there is talk of prospects for a coup d'etat. Craig Mauro reports.
