  • American cartoons do much better for illustrating comedies and humour.

Japanese anime does much better for illustrating serious plots.

  • Anime beats american cartoons anyday.

  • @BarbarianBadAss so, what's your point when you say "copy"? everyone copies one thing from another, there's no real argument from there. Originality doesn't affect quality that much. It's a bit important but not the most important. Family Guy has comedy, Gintama has art and comedy. Does it still matter who's original if the one who copied something became better than the original?

  • They say American Cartoons are aimed at kids but how come they are so violent (maybe some are not violent but still not for kids to me)?

I think that's just an excuse that they don't put the same effort as Japanese Animators.

I think Americans are better in acting (Japanese acting is so bad to me it doesn't look natural to me)

while the Japanese are better in Animation (Compare Break Blade and The Secret World of Arrietty(looks like Heidi to me) animations)

  • @sega31098 >anime

    >serious plots

Unless you mean fanservice of teenage anime girls by "plot", anime has generally shitty plot

  • @DarkXxXJack you're right

  • Wow, they spelled "Midna" wrong >.> Oh, and I feel that American and Japanese cartoons are both good in their own right, it just depends on the person. If you like American humor, then obviously it's the American cartoon for you, if you understand Japanese humor better, than anime. In Japan, their only real source of entertainment they love revolve around their anime. That's why it's 1000x's better in detail than American animation. We can make real life movies, while they usually can't imo :/

  • you guys watch spongebob?....................lol

  • This doesn't really seem to be comparing the two as much as the amine and manga fans telling their side of it. Where is the comic fan's perspective?

  • @DarkXxXJack

American cartoons can do serious plots, but they don't usually do it in such an emotional way as anime IMO.

  • @Acceleration3

Actually, I'm Canadian and I'm asian.

I know Anime can illustrate humour very well, and yes, I do know they have a different comedy style. My favourite is Urusei Yatsura.

It's just that American cartoons usually illustrate surreal and goofy situations better IMO. Anime can illustrate serious and emotional plotlines much more easily.

Unfortunately, most western cartoons haven't been good recently, and the new Flash tweening software they use usually ruins the goofiness.
