Charted at #7 on Billboard Hot 100 in March 1960, #2 on UK Singles chart and #15 on R&B chart. This was the follow-up single to "Running Bear", which had hit #1. Johnny would have one more top 40 hit in the US, with "Feel So Fine (Feel So Good)" (#14 in June 1960, also #18 in the UK) and one other in the UK with "Charming Billy" (#34 in October 1960).

Original Billboard review: "Johnny Preston, whose "Running Bear" is still big, has two strong follow-up sides. "Cradle of Love" is a peppy rockabilly tune on which he's backed by a chorus and a standout guitar."

Written by Jack Fautheree & Wayne Gray.

B-side is "City of Tears".
