Working model of Material Handling Vehicle, final year project of BMSIT Mechanical engineering Batch 2010. We have built a prototype Vehicle which consists of a 'Robot' and a 'Forklift' attached to it. It is operated with the help of a remote that uses RF technology to transmit signals from the control unit to the robot. Material Handling Vehicle is designed and fabricated by incorporating various features of automated guided vehicles and industrial trucks. It is efficient and flexible enough to carry out all the material handling activities in the modern industries. It can accomplish different routings and increases the control over material flow and movement. Forklift is actuated using lead screw and bevel gears mechanisms powered by electric motor. Implementation of this vehicle in an industry or plant which is engaged in high risk operations can been advantageous as it helps in safeguarding the operator as well as the other workers around it due to usage of ultrasonic sensors, that prevent any unnecessary collisions between vehicle and workers.
