I know what the video says and all but, it seems to me that General Motors Vortec engine line really is responsive to higher octane. Stellar performance? No. Your basic octane booster gives your engine an edge. I prefer STP myself. Vortec 4200, and 4300 are the only motors ive had a difference with and actually own. Can't wait to try ungodly amounts of octane :D That should be fun.

these booster fuel additives are just a load of rubbish. False hopes and promises, yet idiots buy them!. Better off giving your car a good service, change spark plugs and air filter, pour in a bottle of redex injector cleaner (rather than a 'booster' and tell me if you DONT notice a difference!

I ran my car on this fucing shit and blew the cunt up. You fucking cunts.

Higher octane doesn't make more horsepower. It will actually lower it if your car doesn't need it. You can see the proof if that in the video. Now if you have a turbo, super charged or nitrous injected car, the higher octane will let you increase the boost pressure or more nitrous use. If you have a forced injection or nitrous car, then you can get more horsepower after you tune the car for more boost or more timing. Now if you don't have those, you can make your engine at a higher compression

I know that this show is clearly made for the uninformed general public, but they could have given us at least a couple of numbers!
what was the octane of the gas they used? what was the compression ration of the engine? what about the hp and torque curves before and after?

I use Shell (Australia) V-Power fuel in my 07 Mazda 3 SP23 and i sometimes wonder if the cleaning and lubrication agents in it lessing the performance even though its 98 Octane

waste of money then! haha :P

These products, induction kits, VTA dump valves etc are all bullshit. They are aimed at chavs by clever marketing types. Chavs are NOT clever, chavs are working class idiots and cunts.
-
True, although if you have an old high-mileage car with a lot of carbon deposits and it's pinging/knocking, increasing the octane of your gas does help prevent pre-ignition by raising the temperature required to ignite the fuel.

they show those forula ford or f2 cars whatever they are surely if they tried some of these products on those engines they may be able to do a fair test rather than k series road engine.
Octane booster is only really effective when the engine is tuned for it, or if the engine has an adaptive ecu to take advantage of the higher octane fuel, or otherwise octane booster is handy when your driving a car that requires the higher premium octane fuels, and your at a fuel station that doesnt sell the higher octane fuel.

Whats the point in doing that. Because they all reduced the power by 2%. The results were consistant. Could that not be to do with the fact that the engine was run for and hour on half and full throttle before each product was entered. Therefore wearing the engine. I can't be bothered to watch this video again as it was a waste of time but who runs a car at full throttle and half throttle for an hour non stop gradually increasing speed. I'm sorry but it wasn't exactly a realistic test was it?
