One of my favorite fiddle tunes arranged for clawhammer banjo and played on a gourd banjo I recently built. The neck was an unfinished kit neck from Bell Banjos on ebay. The gourd was locally raised. The goatskin head has been shaved on top, but still maintains much of it's fur and character.

  • that was fantastic Jim - I've made a gourd banjo, hope I can make one and play one to that level in the future - rob

  • Cheer up, Jim! That was great! Thanks for sharing it. Cool instrument, too.

  • Nice job on the song and the banjer! Is that thing fretless? Awsome! you go where few dare to tred!!

  • Cool instrument! I feel like clawhammer is something that nearly all musicians in the traditional style eventually gravitate towards. Especially in the tradition of old time American tunes. Well, banjo or at least the fiddle.

    Great tune too!

  • Very nice Jim.

  • I love the sound of that gourd banjo!

  • Jim, You are da man!
