The Ashbridges Bay Skateboard Park is located at the northwest corner of Lake Shore Boulevard East and Coxwell Avenue, Toronto.
The 70,000 square−foot, street−style concrete
skateboarding plaza is the city's first urban skate plaza and features a progressive approach to skateboard park design based on real−life structures.
The $1.7 million facility, which is suitable for all levels and abilities, includes a floating manual dish, a concrete recliner, a kinked, steeped bank and a Daewon Song style pad.
The space also features architectural detailing like planting areas along with the skateboarding elements.
The Southeast Toronto Skateboard Association (STSA), formed by local skateboarders and their parents back in 2002, was instrumental in getting the park off the ground.
The park, which was opened in October 2009, is the best in the province and one of the premiere skate plazas in the country. It's already well regarded by top skaters and fast becoming a destination park for skateboarders from all over Canada and the United States of America.
Over the past few months, the park has been invaded by people determined to deface the park by vandalism graffiti. Cleaning the graffiti proved to be costly and ineffective, as the vandals would simply return and apply new graffiti to the surfaces.
To combat the problem, the Toronto Police Service, 55 Division Community Response Unit, in consultation with Councillor Mary−Margaret McMahon and City of Toronto Parks and Recreation staff, have developed a strategy that is expected to have a lasting impact, as well as give the park a permanent facelift.
The strategy involves painting murals over the concrete
surfaces. This will serve to give a positive theme to the park, as well as give artistically talented youngsters an opportunity to contribute to the beauty of the park in a positive way.
To this end, three top Toronto artists, Lee Travaglini, Max Sawka and Kyle Howard have generously jumped on board to volunteer their time and skills to design and paint the murals.
On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 5 p.m., the artists, as well as members of the Toronto Police Service, will be at the park to kick off the painting of the murals. The project is expected to take two weeks to complete.

How can you claim to celebrate graffiti artists by painting stupid childrens murals over their work? What your doing is not legal graffiti. If you aren't letting anyone paint their name it's not graffiti . . . Faggots on skateboards and stupid veteran bullshit is NOT in any way graffiti. I hope it all gets fucked over the day after you paint it. This video makes me hate cops more. Get fucked.
