  • Who are these people who don't understand how a factory works or how a car factory works? I just don't get this guy. Apparently we understand how the financial economy works by his premise of grouping all people together, yet according to him these same people are incapable understanding how a factory works.\

  • This guys thinks exactly like me, it's spooky. I am going to start writing books as soon as I finish uni.

  • @jowandb - One can only make a guess about how your life was before this bald idiot, who supported the bombing of Beirut civilians by the Israeli airforce, "changed" it.

  • Men like Alain de Botton are so rare... it's so difficult to find them, they are like DIAMONDS!

  • If you choose to sacrifice the time you 're on this world just to pay the mortgagr of you house that's more than sad, ... I travel a lot, around the world, and I meet many people who do not have our luxuary, but are far more happier, .... if you think that's a cliché... get out of your chair, switch off your tv-set, and get a life !

  • Alain has changed my life ! Great thinking !

  • Never patronising, always clearly understood and accessible even when discussing complex things; I love Alain's approach.

  • @kikividis

" He's never faced the terror of having to sell decades of his life just to own a house"

That's a chilling way of putting it and quite true for so many.

  • Alain De Botton in one of the greatest thinkers of the 21st century. Fantastic Philosopher!

  • Anyone know which book of Marx is best to provide the analysis of the workplace that de Botton mentions?
