Karen Armstrong is the former nun-cum-prolific writer. With over 20 books under her belt, she has written about the 3 major monotheistic religions in the world and works with the UN. Armstrong maintains that cross-cultural problems are not due to religion, but the practice. She talks about how religious fundamentalism started with the Christians in the U.S., spread to the Jewish faith, and has come most lately to Islam. She cautions both the Western World and the East to act not with extremism, rather with tolerance and the goal of understanding.
recently began to read Karen Armstrong's work. I relate since I have suffered similar problems, She is easy to read, and has great insight. I hope she writes more of her struggles.
