I just listened to Tidal the other day. Even though it isn't as sophisticated as her later stuff, its still damn good singing and songwriting, and the fact that she composed those songs in high school is just staggering.

@gungrave515 i've heard ONE other.. her name is adele. look up some of her acoustic stuff. her voice is absolutley AMAZING. nothing on fiona though lol ;]

About happy songs I just quoted what she said: “I wanted to write a happy song. I didn't know how.”

It's been four years since Extraordinary Machine and that followed a six year lull; I keep wondering if Fiona Apple just isn't that interested in being on the pop star machinery- just makes records whenever she feels like it. She's one of the BEST composers in the business right now, no doubt.
