I made this level over the course of about 6-7 weeks for a continuing ed. level design class I was taking. We weren't able to add our own art or other assets on the campus computers, so given those constraints, this is what I created for level 8 of the class project (which is was actually the 6th level of hell in Dante's Inferno; we used that as loose basis of the mod project). In my level, in the book, there was the Medusa, the Gates to and the City of Dis, and Heretics.
If you get hit with the (Medusa) beams of light ~3 times in a short span, you take enough damage to die. Also, I don't know if you can see it, but user freezes and looses control over the character (but not the camera pan) for a short time when hit with a Medusa beam.
As far as the puzzle to open the door to the city...if you don't do the button presses in the right order, it resets so you can retry.
At the end of my level, as you can see, I fail, but that is due to the low framerate I was getting while recording the screen capture while running Unreal Editor. Those are the last enemies that spawn on the level and with a better framerate, taking them out isn't terribly difficult.
Focus in the class was on kismet and learning the editor. The only work I imported was a brush I made from 3DSMax to create the general shape of the space.
The music is an original track I've been working on recently currently called "DubDubDub."
PC version of Gears of War right?
