  • In 24 years we have never seen this happen. We have chipped thousands of ECU's now, and have never had a problem, however our instructions always state you should be earthed, and in this video we were.

    Many thanks for your concern.

  • Hi there mate, would this be the same process for a year 2000 Discovery 2 with the apparent Bosch system?

  • This process should be done using a static wrist strap, static mat - all properly grounded. An IC extraction tool should also be used - not a screwdriver!

Static damage may not be apparent immediately either - it can cause pre-mature failure later on.

  • what chip did u use and do it require the security system to be reset

  • for a rover*..but is it the SAME process for EVERY engine or just a V8?

  • OMG..I want the WIZARDS KNOWLEDGE. lol I just learned how to chip an ecu in under 5 minutes...wow

  • no static strap?

  • ahahahahahah

  • Whatever you do, don't let this guy touch your car.

  • Do this on a grounding mat. On a dry day, a static discharge would have fried this ECM. Seen it happen more than once.
