This Bagpipe has a Chanter, & Two Drones, one Tenor, & one Bass. Scots Pipes have two Tenor Drones, one Bass.
Essentially it is based on the 19th century Scottish "GHB". The "Gaelic Revival" Bagpipe has the LOOK of Pipe illustrations from the late Middle Ages.
This Configuration was developed during the "Gaelic Revival" ( approx.1890 -1914 ). The Gaelic Athletic Association ( G.A.A. ) revived Hurling, Gaelic Football, etc. Pipe Bands were also organized to play the teams on & off the field, as done in ancient times. Here, I used Drones & Stocks made in Pakistan, & the Chanter is in A=440 hertz (made in the 1970s by Robert Donovan Thomas...RIP) . The Tunes are:
1.Sean O'Dwyer of the Glen (Engish language version)
2. Oro Se Do Bhearha Bhaile (O-Ro It Is Welcome Home to You) 3. The Return From Fingal 4. Follow Me Up To Carlow 5. Fainne Geal an Lae ( The Day's Bright Ring,
i.e. The Dawning of the Day ) 6. The Mason's Apron Reel.

  • I can't in text whats key they'r in..... But it seems to Me that they'r played like a GHB pipe..... Anyway.... You'r playing very very well, and its a pleasure to watch...... Even I prefer to call Dawning of the Day for Raglan Road .....

    Best wishes from Angus :-)

  • @AngusOnkel Thank You for the compliment on my playing.

This Set of Pipes are in the key of A (mixolydian mode) at the pitch of A=440 hertz.

It can also be played in the keys of D and in B modal minor. They can be played with

Scottish Gracing, or with Irish "Uilleann" Pipe Gracing, as I do here.

Fainne Geal an Lae is the original name the Poem "On Raglan Road",written

by Patrick Kavanagh in 1946. see wikipedia for more info.

  • Dear Fellow Piper, Thank You for Your Compliment !

It's SOME of my Bagpipe Collection but it belongs

to Mr. Seeler. Back in 1999 I had only 30 Pipes,

and in the last 12 years I've added another 25 Pipes.

I need another 5 for a truly representative collection
