Its 1,200 rpm gund today dont even have 12,000 rpm...cept for a vulvan maybe

I think the rpm on the '42 was 1200 rounds per minute, not 12,000. Still one of the best MG's in history, I've heard that it's still manufactured to this day, just re-chambered to take NATO 7.62mm rounds. That's pretty damn good for a gun that goes back almost 70 years. \m/

@Gooner018 Shkas was a prototype gun, only few build, its never been under wide service(most was on aeroplanes, wasn't field mg).
Vickers? is this a joke? :D
/watch?v=hPv_f_aSyP4 ->Is this really sounds like 1200rpm?
-
@ramjb Shkas actually had a rate of fire of 1800 rpm. British Vickers K had 1200 rpm. :-)

@willscomputer2 mg42 -> 1200 rpm. There was another type of mg 42 which had 1500 rpm, but the barrel over heated too fast.

@GuilleBlitzkrieg Un fierro, ciertamente...

@willscomputer2 uhhh wrong. There were several single barrel MGs which fired faster. Soviet ShKAS comes to mind (1500rpm). The MG81 also had very high RoF(same as the ShKAS)
Any higher RoF than the MG42's, however,wasn't practical for infantry use, that weapon ate out ammo at a prodigious rate,and actually the bigger limiting factor for MG42 crews was the ammo they could take with them becase the weapon would spit it out so fast.
the ShKAS was used as an aircraft weapon mainly because of that.
