A set of Birch flatbows that I made for a friend and his wife. The handle Lamination is Osage Orange. The shorter of the two draws 25# @ 26", while the longer draws 45# @ 29".

The glue I used was Smith & Company Oak and Teak Two-Part Epoxy, and the finish I used was Tru-oil, (corny name, but amazing results)

Also, sorry for being long-winded, haha. I had alot to talk about due tot he particular challenge these two bows gave me, and I am quite pleased with the results.
Also, sorry for drawing the longer bow short while firing, that's what I get for not warming up well enough before making a video, I suppose.

  • I used Tru-oil as both a sealer and a finisher.

  • @Raynor35 ever tried backing them with sinew?

  • @5tonyvvvv Not yet... but I intend to, just up through now I've mainly used sinew to fix bows, and my skill with sinew isn't all that great yet.

  • Great videos, I'm making my first bows as well now. You seem to hold the arrow really low when shooting. Most archers tring it up closer to their face; say middle finger an inch behind the mouth.

  • These look really great and appear to be pretty fast too. Did you start out with boards on these flatbows? Also...what did you use as a guide or how-to for the flat bows? On one of you other bows, you mentioned your sources for info. I saw a YouTube video on making Pyramid flatbows which look similar to yours, but your limbs are wider at the end. You mentioned thinning the limbs to tiller them. Do you mean making them more narrow or thinner?

  • Hey when did you start making bows again? Because you've come really far-one inch deflex!-tha's better than a lot of bowyers i know of

  • Very nice work!!

  • can you do a video on how to choose the right arrows for a particular bow so they paradox the right way?

  • wow those bow are awesome! keep up the good work and if you could make a video of you actually making one that would be sweet!

  • Nice Bows, I am try but my bows don't look that good.
