David Nolan, founder of the Libertarian Party, took some time out of his busy schedule to sit-down with the http://motorhomediaries.com/ crew at his Tucson home. This video shows just how principled, humble and entrepreneurial a person Nolan is. In addition to giving an overview about the founding of the Libertarian Party, he also shares with us his view on the direction the LP has taken, his current projects and his views on the larger freedom movement.

  • Very coincidentally I discovered today that he has passed away

    Rest in peace David Nolan

  • @Antiks72 Perhaps Rand, but definitely not Rothbard. Personally, I prefer Lysander Spooner and Samuel Edward Konkin III. True anarcho-capitalism is not a pro-corporatist philosophy. Perhaps there are those in the LP who have been influenced by the Kochtopus, but certainly not all, and it is an unfair assessment, and illogical to conclude that all LP members are pro-corporatist.

  • 1 person is a commi RIP David Nolan

  • RIP David Nolan

  • I think it's important to realize we all have something in common, especially in this day and age of TSA strip searches in the rising police state.

  • @Antiks72 Fair enough. I don't mean to defend everything Rothbard wrote (especially not later in his life), but some of it may appeal to you.

He's often thought of as a right-winger, and in the anarchist world, I guess he is. But it's strange to hear a guy who argued for worker takeovers of state-owned corporations, and wrote an ethics book endorsing compensation to the heirs of victims of historical crimes like slavery and land theft, called "right-wing". Such clumsy terms people use…

  • @cheesechoker Will do, I'll take another look.

  • @Antiks72 I can understand your enmity toward Rand, but why Rothbard? He was a strong critic of corporatism and state capitalism. Carson himself has definitely been influenced by Rothbard's work: try reading the posts on his blog about "the left-Rothbardians".

  • God bless ya David, see you on down the road.

  • RIP David Nolan, a champion of Liberty
