  • fake. as of today they don't offer a transparent OLED for purchase in that size. they're still showing them off at CES. Unless you dad is the CEO of Sony.

  • @DJDevon3 This is TFT. The panel itself is transparent (dimming though) and it requires backlight which is made by installing white cathodes and leds inside the case. Excactly the same principal as normal TFT screen, but the white reflector behind the panel is replaced with illuminated insides of a computer case.

  • @DJDevon3 sorry i accidentally removed your previous comment. The screen was BenQ T705 and already had a broken backlight power supply. You should also check the better video of the mod from my profile.

  • @lossdriver Ah OK I get it now. What are the chances that my crappy old 15" TFT is like that? It might help if you posted the make and model # of your screen. I might be willing to go out and buy that one specifically because I'll have a better chance at replicating it. I'd hate to take apart a working LCD just to find out it won't work. Specifically what should I be looking for? Something that says backlit LCD?

  • @DJDevon3 There's not much to make a tutorial about. Just disassemble a TFT screen and hope for the best that the controller circuit and psu are not located behind the panel. After that slap the panel onto some plexiglass and figure out how to remove the psu from the controller circuit and power it up from the computers psu (in this case, the controller was detachable and needed +5V, +3V and ground). Then install a lot of lights inside the case and there you have it :)

  • Vittu että sulla on hieno kone :D

  • äkäästä

  • can you explain how this is done? any guides etc
