Piano Concerto in D Major [1782]
I. Vivace
Alfred Brendel, Klavier
Wiener Kammerorchester
Paul Angerer, Leitung
Alfred Brendel was born in Weisenberg in 1931. He began his international career with his appearance of a prize winner in the Concorso Busoni in 1949. He studied with Edwin Fischer, Paul Baumgartner and Eduard Steuermann. He travelled all over the world, making regular annual trips to the United States, appearing since 1960 at the Salzburg Festival, and as a soloist at the Vienna Festival.
He has been soloist with all the major symphony orchestras in Europe, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, and has performed under the batons of such distinguished conductors as Karajan, Ormandy, Metha, Rosbaud, Kempe, Paumgartner, Dohnányi and Keiberth.
He shows a particular preference for Mozart and has been instrumental in bringing before the public unjustly neglegted Schubert Sonatas.
Pity about the poor sound quality, though.

It is a quite early recording of Alfred Brendel´s piano activities and yes, it may well be that the sound can be called 'poor' but it is also my first digitalized long-playing record!
The standard of this is rather low of course, I agree.. but you can call it almost a historical recording!
