Electronic fire pumps are required by NFPA code to be run once a month for 10 minutes. According to NFPA 25 code, fire pumps are required to be tested and inspected on an annual basis to ensure proper operation. During an annual fire pump churn test a number of things are observed at the pump including housing temperature, suction and discharge pressures, and pump pressure relief.
