http://www.ProGuitarShop.com - Here it is, the Maxon OD-808 Overdrive pedal! This was one of the first overdrive pedals to emulate tube amp overdrive with a solid state circuit. The OD-808 is also one of the most imitated pedals in stompbox history. The Maxon OD-808 Overdrive is one of Maxon's Reissue series. The only difference between this one and the original is a change in output resistors in order to reduce noise from static electricity buildup. Otherwise, the OD-808 is true to the original, featuring a signal distorting diode in the negative feedback loop which causes the signal to distort in the amplifier circuit instead of after. The Maxon OD-808 Overdrive pedal also features the infamous JRC4558 (of course!).

Smooth and creamy. That's the tone of the Maxon OD-808 Overdrive pedal. That sought after sound that everyone and their sister has tried to imitate and improve on is contained in the OD-808. This pedal needs no improvements, the overdrive is thick and creamy with singing sustain. The harmonically rich tone is easily cleaned up with a roll of the guitar's volume knob. If the search for the perfect tube screamer has got you down, the Maxon OD-808 Overdrive pedal will lift you back up and end that pesky nagging in the back of your head that your tone could be better.

dudes every serious musician uses this pedal, even the metal guys, i have two. its the kidies who use pedals like the metal zone that dont get how to use this effectively. you dont need a high gain ultra distortion ubber metal pedal to get a great metal tone... you just need a tube amp and a tubescreamer or a boost for that matter to give it some balls PGS as alway great reviews and great gear gotta love PDX ORE. :)

Adam D of Killswitch Engage uses this one also in his studio, great agressive crunch he gets out of it!

Considering Maxon produced the original tube screamers in the 70's/80's...

actually badblood100575, you are incorrect. there are LOTS of metal guitarists that use the Maxon OD808 as a boost to an ultra high gain amp, to get more chunk, and definition to their riffing. so it actually IS for metal, genius.

I don't know why you're writting this because this pedal is not create for playing metal music but for blues and rock music !! So if you want to look for a metal sound or video check for something like metal .... or distortion pedal but not for an OVERDRIVE pedal !!!!!
