I think that the Americans must be reminded of the absolute influence that Celtic music, lyrics, phrasing and sentiments have on American music. Speaking as an old Canadian musician, I can say from a position of (variable) authority that the Scots, Irish, English qnd Northern French have had such an influence on the moods of Celtic music, that American music would have virtually nothing of interest or value without an apreciation of the roots.
That's uncanny 'cos I saw them at Harrogate and as soon as Chris started singing this the hairs on the back of my head stood up. Love the version on the Cropredy '08 CD. Play it loud in the car and sing at the top of my voice.
i saw these guys for the first time on 29th feb 2008 in birmingham.
when Chris sang this it was one of those hair on the back of the neck moments, the kind that for some reason makes you want to laugh and express just how excellent what you are experiencing really is.
i was at the sage in gateshead the night before this was filmed. chris leslie was incredible when he sang this, what a voice. i met the band afterwards and they signed my programme etc. i told chris how wonderful he sang sandy dennys song. what a lovely bloke he is.
WOW such a beautiful performance, i wish i was there. thanks for sharing

Amazing.
This is the first time I've searched for a recording of this with Chris singing it. How great that I found this right away!
