A solidarity action took place on August 9, 2011 at a Verizon Wireless store near Powell and Market St. in San Francisco for the Verizon workers who are on strike in the East Coast. Members of CWA locals and others joined the picket to support the 45,000 CWA and IBEW workers. The Verizon wireless store was mostly empty during the picket as people supported the action.

@mydanroy Obviously you are a blogger paid by Vz to bash the union because your claims are false and misleading. Average base salary is about $55k. We haven't had a raise in over a year. Sick time is limited, we HAVE productivity goals, we had layoffs just last year (network techs), vz wants to freeze and eliminate our pension. We have taken below industry standard wages in the past in order to keep our medical benefits 4 which we have a co-pay, We work in ALL weather (heat, cold, wet etc)!!!

The workers at Verizon have my full support in their negotiations with the corporation. Like a lot of other corporations today, Verizon appears to disregard the harm their policies would have on the human beings who make their business possible and on the country where they've found so much wealth for their stockholders. The workers at Verizon have as much right to look after their collective interests as Verizon's stockholders, and probably more wisdom besides.

It seems like most of them don't know what they are talking about. I understand why these people are striking because taking things away that were promised isnt very fair at all, but i wouldnt doubt most of these people have a decent car, go to the movies once a week, and have a couple of flat screen in their house. They really need to get a grip on reality, there are people starving to death out there, go back to work and suck it up...selfish
