Fishing in on Gravel Lake in Michigan catching Bowfin known as DOGFISH. These fish are very aggressive and love to munch on small panfish. This is a video of one of the DOGFISH we caught over the weekend. Watch out for the teeth on these prehistoric monsters.

  • are you from brooklyn or MI?

  • @11brichm CHICAAAAAAGO

  • nice catch! i was just fishing in a creek near a river this weekend, and i hooked a little over 2 footer dogfish in the first 20 SECONDS of fishing! Even though its not a good fish to eat or be proud of catching, i was happy to catch my biggest fish ever! :)

  • @cmndrkool321 NICE!

  • @spiderelectra321 Even though they are prehistoric? Bowfin are a needed scavenger fish and are a great way to keep stunted blugill populations down. Musky and Pike will do much more damage to Bass populations that scavenger bowfin.

  • I caught 2 of those dumb things last summer (7 and 8 lbs), while fishing for pike... They really bug me because they fight so hard I think I have a huge pike on... Just wondering, can you eat them? I heard that their bone structure was kind of funny but not sure. Thanks.

  • @spiderelectra321 they are native fish. they do not destroy populations of other species because they are just as much a part of the ecosystem.

  • I saw the bluegill floating at 1:23 or something. Nice dogfish!

  • Im tired of idiot yankess claiming bowfin will ruin a bass population. The biggest threat to bass is BASS the parent bass eat 80% of their babies. A hungry bass would also eat a small bass thats why they have bass swimbaits

  • Respond to this video... nice fish!!! never heard them called a dogfish before. I live near the ocean though and we call sand sharks dogfish.

  • @spiderelectra321 you're thinking of snake head

  • I ment just

  • I hush got back form vaction we were pullig them up I caught mine on. A waxworm

  • I catch these different.. i just wait in a cove and I think they actually get curious about the boat and i find them always surfacing and looking at it then i just put chunks of bluegill by there faces and they take it. btw it may be because of where i fish but these all seem small to me. where i catch them there 12 pounds plus. that one to me looked 5-6 pounds at the most.
