David Hilliard, Huey Newton, Eldridge Clever, and Bobby Hutton used their deep internal thoughts to develop the group to provide progressive help. They did not set their sights on violence as there message. They used their collective thoughts to unite. They stood for the people first and foremost. not themselves. First of all it is a very well known fact that most members of the Panthers were Marxists. There is nothing scary about that, and neither is there anything scary about the socialist trends in the New Black Panther Party. You are afraid of that which you don't understand.

but the fact is that black panthers didn't stand for "Black power", they stood for "Power to the people". I understand what you mean by saying white power and black power aren't the same thing, but I think that the "Power to the people" slogan is much more in tune with socialism and working class solidarity.
