can anyone tell me why the people from the future can't just kill someone in their own time and get rid of them? why do they need to send them to the past to kill them? and if they have a time machine, why not just send them to the ice age? why send them back like 30 years? i can't understand this part of the show so im not watching it. please enlightment me so i can watch it

At the ending when he talks about the cycle..he meant the kid becoming angry and alone if he lost his mom, like he was..and he didn't want that to happen to him.so he sacrificed himself to save the kid's mother ..so there's hope for the kid. So no he didn't do his mom, lol.
