  • Let's face it: anyone who believes in an invisible, telepathic super-being is clinically insane.

  • Oh how I love the funny, crazy-ass, bible stories!

  • I read the christian bible as a kid .... and the violence and gore in horror movies didn't even phase me because of it, I guess that's a good thing. Seriously, I was "how is this movie too gory for kids?" with each one.

  • @hellbindercda um, some kids teasing a man for being bald is "a large scary gang of punks" that "chased down and old man"? And even still, is it ok that they are ripped apart by bears? and if you have biblical faith, then those kids who met their fates by bears have been and still are and forever will be burning in hell. what a loving God we serve huh?

  • @FrankLightheart Right. As always, don't defy Yahweh or he will fucking kill you!

  • Did somebody really just attempt to justify this by stating that it wasn't elementary age kids but college aged? Talk about missing the point. And talk about weak cop outs. What a joke. So they called the guy bald. Sicking two bears on them makes up for it, eh? Two insanely violent bears. Instant X rating from the MPAA!

  • I found this tale intriguing after I learned more about it. Apparently this is just the second part of a story meant to teach a moral. Elisha mentions earlier that towns that praise the Lord will receive miracles, but ones that don't will loose their children and be left with no future.

So first, Elisha visits a town that praises God and so he purifies their well. Then he visits a secular town where he curses them and bears eat their kids.

The moral of the story is quite clear, then.

  • @MrJgkeeling this event also took place during a time period where the average human only lived to about 30 years, so 20 years old would make them anything but "youths". Ones of such an age would have likely been able to overcome the bears without 42 deaths in the process as well, in fact I'm sure of it. Also why did god need for his prophet to curse them, when he was watching all along? Killing people isin't a good way to get them to worship you if you can't do it yourself.
