If you treat your Phalaenopsis orchid the way Dave recommends in this video, it will reward you with beautiful blossoms year after year.

  • Did anyone else notice that the orchid he was watering looked droopy and half dead? (o.O)

  • @KITTENDELISH The orchid was a bit droopy, but just because it needed some water. I tend to keep them dry to prevent root rot, especially in the cooler months when they use less water.

  • Great idea for a new video!

  • Thanks for the feedback.

  • I have heard the same thing. I let the water sit for a few days sometime. I have not had trouble however with direct tap water. I would imagine it depends on water system as all water is not equal, hard, soft, etc.

  • I got just add ice orchid. I been watering it with 3 ice cubes. each week so cold ice could kill it? because you said cold water will shock it..thanks in advance.

  • Using tap water is a crime

  • Miért értelmetlen a magyarul megjelenő szöveg?!

  • Hard water is desirable to protect a few days previously in a separate container.

    1. Orchids put in a pot.

    2. Heat the water up to 35-40oC, pour in a pot.

    3. Time 15-60 minutes.

    4. Drain.

    5. Flowering specimens did not fertilize, as they wither quickly.

    Irina. Russia.

  • Use clear plastic pots - the roots photosynthesize and will remain in the pot as they grow.. and are also easier to water. Note the plants weight when wet so you have a good idea of when it requires watering. Keep the Phalaenopsis at a minimum of 18 celsius, if the leaves are dull and/or droopy raise humidity to 50% minimum. Don't use ceramic, as the roots will adhere and you'll likely badly damage the orchid if you repot it.

  • very nice video..thx man

  • what i want to know is what happens it the leaves begin to wrinkle? the base is still green but the leaves are beginning to droop down
