Hotel Rex in "K" Town

I've been getting a LOT of crap from all the Greeks that have partied HARD in Kalamata in the Summer. They love this city with a passion and take OFFENSE to me saying it "sucks." I'm sorry. When I went, in February, all the cool bars and restaurants next to the ocean were shut down and since I'm an idiot with directions, I didn't see the square right NEXT to Hotel Rex.

The next time I visit Kalamata, I will make sure it's when it is ALIVE and all you great Greeks can prove me and my hahaha Chinese (I'm a Flip/Wop) forehead wrong!

I understand the hate. When I visited I found a great many towns to fall in love with over there. People are passionate about things like whether or not their town "sucks" and some foreigner saying that will rub them the wrong way. I like winter travel because I don't have to fight with a bunch of my fellow countrymen for space. I just found it strange to see a huge part of the town boarded up like a funeral parlor. I'll try summer partytime some day.

I'm glad I didn't meet any of **you** losers on my trip this year. I'm NOT chinese. Stop hatin' on me already. I said that is was crappy IN WINTER. All the shops and clubs next to the water were CLOSED. They looked dead! There were a few clubs inland open but not many. I've been to other cities(Munich,Amsterdam,Rome)t­hat were alive in winter and I didn't have to ask where they were!

And here, I thought *I* was the only loser on the Internet! Mastouradb and me are great friends now...;) . At least he complemented me on my "chinese" looks and said I'm a Jacky Chan lookalike. Now I *know* I should head for the Far East. If I look like Jacky, I'll be able to score more tail than I know what to do with!

What *is* Kalamata about in the winter time? OK I didn't see K's cool part when I made this. Walked the street in front of Rex until the sea shore. Didn't see much going on. The restaurants and clubs next to the sea were deserted.

Finally saw town square a street or two over from there and lots of cool shops and restaurants. But, tell me... what is there to do in the winter or 4 weeks ago when I was there??

READ THIS- dude im Greek from Kalamata but i live in New York in the US. I understand what you are saying that the wintertime there is not much people/nightlife/places open- i agree but u shounldnt come out like that "KALAMATA SUCKS" - THATS WRONG and offensive. I was there last summer to visit my realatives and go clubbing and it was fun- because in New York and in most of the US people stay indoors because of the cold climate and its boring as hell. At least in Greece people know how to live

dude I'm sorry you had to put up with all these comments. they are misjudging you because of the fact that kalamata is indeed one of the best places in greece to spend the summer in. thing is, february is probably the worst month to visit it, and the nightlife is all in the northern part of town, about 500m from the hotel where you were staying. here's me hoping you come back and change your opinion :D

In February people DON'T go to Kalamata's beach.. they go to the historical center where there are some really nice bars. Obviously you did't notice! : )

Kalamata is the most beautiful city in the word. If u want club go 2 mikonos not kalamata! <3 kalamata (KaLaMaTa I Love U!)
