  • enamal thinner will work fine

  • Superb, absolutely superb. It's a funny thing, either you model or you don't. Not everyone knows the trials and tribulations of working so hard on something, just to completely screw it up with a bad paint job. Boy, do I know that one. Can you show what to do on a F-117A Nighthawk? Flat paint leaves finger prints.

  • @bobbybilly60 but sometimes enamel thinner will wash off my body paint, how am i suppose to avoid that?

  • @eclipse245 I have found flat paint has a rough surface so the clean up is not so sharp.

  • How do you do that on commercial planes? I saw someone doing it different. (danielbustos, you can check his channel especially the a319 video you can see i good there) but dont you mess up the painting with the thinner? Is it this way: paint-decals-gloss-panel lines i thought. Is revell color clear 01 good as gloss if you airbrush it? Alot of questions :p

  • Can I use Clear Matte acrylic instead of Glossy? I don't want to purchase 2 sprays if I want my final product to be matte anyways.

    Thanks to those that reply.

  • you dont need a clear coat for a wash with oil paints? right? i used to use enamel thinner but i couldnt really wipe the excess away becasue the testors enamal thinner burns right through my tamiya airbrushed coat... down to the bare plastic. I usually give a generous wash before i give a base coat... and some is visible but not as much as a full out wash .... sooo ? do i need a clear coat?

  • gloss coats are best because the wash is able to soak into the panel lines easier. It is also easier to remove the excess after.

  • great vid Brett, helped alot.

  • does it work over flat coat not gloss?

  • what Acrylics were you using?

  • Enamels Can be a good wash, but make sure you have a strong clear coat so that the thinner doesnt damage the finish, you might consider oils I just started using them last year and they are great used with some mineral spirits.
