We revisit Ross Kelly, known in Chicago clubs as DJ Steak, and he shows us the Waldorf Pulse. This modern monophonic synth has some sweet sounds and features -- no wonder it takes ninja-quick hands to operate.

  • Hey gearwire, couldn't you just review or test the nice software that is available for this pulse to control it like a vsti and give your input on it? I am thinking about buying a pulse again since the main thing I hated about it was this endless button pressing, knob fiddling. But with this software it seems really sweet and logical to use. It's the reKon audio editor I am talking about.

  • Got one of these fr sale in th UK, message me if interested. Looking for about £260, thanks

  • Love it. Seriously on the brink of adding one to my studio.

Does anyone know for certain if you can midi-clock the LFOs?

  • @davenoz1 it uses pots rather than rotaries. You can hear some stepping in certain situatons, mostly sweeping the filter manualy (and slowly), its due to midi CC's sending values from 0-127. The sound of this thing in real life is totally killer and it has a very hot output, i keep the volume turned way down most of the time.

  • Good demo, great synth.

It actually has a 24 dB lowpass filter with resonance.

  • @davenoz1 not endless encoders as they have a start and stop points so not endless.. starts at the 7oclock positon and end at 5oclock position..

  • HI just to be sure , This does use endless dials ? also is there any stepping on any parameters ? I couldnt hear any

  • I have the Pulse Plus and I gree fully: This unit has awesome sound. It has digital control + analog filter and sounds much better than the virtual analogues I have.

  • Nice x0xb0x I spied there too ;)

  • Midi, the MPC is a midi sequencer.
