The #5 train express is one of the best stretches for express service in the system. Especially The White Plains Road Express. The #7 is a close second for IRT. Junction Blvd and Woodside.

@ nizaralvarez1943257: there's the easy way you could video, if you have I-Phone with camcorder you could uploaded it. The cops can't stop you.

Oh yeah and by the way, you brought up some good memories man. Makes me sad those days are over, but hey. Sad fact of life, is that it goes on wheather or not we like it.

Damn I was only 10 years old back then, but I still remember taking the redbirds when visiting my grandma and my brothers. Those were the days. Should have got off at Simpson St. Walk downstairs and would have found yourself right in Southern BLVD where all the stores, and the ever present bootleggers are at.
Great to see footage of the Redbirds and the IRT-style signalling installed on the line at the time (and not a single articulated bus to be found). However, I felt the camera moved around too much. There were too many abrupt cuts, zooms and pans, and some of what I feel are the best parts (Switching to the express track, for example) were left on the cutting room floor. I expected this to be one continuous take.
5 stars for the subject matter, -1 for the camera work.

I was visiting NYC from Chicago on a daytrip when I shot this, and didn't have a lot of battery power. I could only pick out what I deemed were good angles. The posted version is in its unedited form( I do have some more from that day, but are separate files, due to Youtube's time limits). I understand your take, but at the same time I wanted to keep a most complete version for history, with all its blemishes. Thanks for your thoughts.

how did you do this?

I was shooting from the front car on the door next to the motorman's cab, when that was still publicly open. Sucks that we can't do that anymore, especially on the newer cars.
