does anyone know why some lizards develop bulges/bumps on the sides of their throats (like this Day gecko). Does it have to do with overgrown thyroid glands? if so, how do you prevent this?

This Male is pretty tame, he usually approaches my hands and always seems curious.
My female is super nervous and keep hiding.
